Before the installation, you are recommended to do the following:- Close all running application.
- Check if other Kaspersky Lab products or other incompatible third-party anti-virus software is installed on the computer. You will find the list of all software incompatible with Kaspersky Lab products in KB6345.
Step 1: If you purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 on a disc, then the installation process starts automatically after the Setup disc is inserted into the CD-ROM drive. If you have purchased the product from the E-Store you get a link to an executable setup file which should be launched manually. If the Setup disc does not run automatically you will need to run the executable installation file manually. Locate the disk and folder where Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 setup file is located and double-click the executable file. Once you run the executable setup file the Setup Wizard of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 will launch.
In order to start standard installation, click the Next button.
Step 2: Read the End User License Agreement of Kaspersky Lab. If you agree with all the terms click the I accept button. The installation will proceed. In order to stop the installation click Cancel.
Step 3: The Setup Wizard suggests participation in Kaspersky Security Network. If you participate in the program, Kaspersky Lab will receive information about new threats, detected on your computer. As well as system information and a unique identifier will be specified for your computer by Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Please note that no personal data will be gathered or sent within this process. Read the Data Collection Statement about using Kaspersky Security Network. If you agree with all the terms, check I accept the terms of participation in Kaspersky Security Network. Click Install button to proceed with the installation.
If you install the application on your computer working under Windows Vista / 7, then a message from the User Account Control service may appear. In order to continue the installation, click the Yes button.
Step 4: Make sure that Run Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 is checked and click the Finish button in order to complete the installation process.
Once the application is installled you are required to activate Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012.

You can activate Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 using the following methods:
Select one of the following activation methods, to activate Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012:
- Activate commercial version – a 20-digit activation code should be entered. Your computer should be connected to the Internet to activate the product. The Setup Wizard will download and install a key file automatically.
If an activation code was entered incorrectly, then once you click Next the following message will be displayed:
- Activate trial version. The Configuration Wizard will download and install a key file which is 30 days valid. Your computer should be connected to the Internet to activate the product. Trial version is fully-functioning, however when a trial period expires the anti-virus databases will not be updated.
If the option Activate trial version is not available, it means the trial version a) was already installed or b) is installed now.- Make sure the system date is set correctly on your computer.
- In the Activation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 window select Activate commercial version.
- In the Enter activation code field enter an activation code you obtained when purchasing the license. An activation code should be entered from the keyboard in Latin ONLY.
- Click the Next button, to continue with the installation process.
- The activation wizard will connect with the Kaspersky Lab server and will download a license key file.
- Once a key file is obtained, an information window is displayed with the license type and its expiration date.
- Click the Finish button.
- Make sure the system date is set correctly on your computer.
- Open the main application window.
- In the bottom right part of the window click the Insert your activation code here link.
- In the Manage License window click the Activate the application button.
- In the Activation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 window select Activate commercial version.
- In the Enter activation code field enter an activation code you obtained when purchasing the license. An activation code should be entered from the keyboard in Latin ONLY.
- Click the Next button, to continue with the installation process.
- The activation wizard will connect with the Kaspersky Lab server and will download a license key file.
- Once a key file is obtained, an information window is displayed with the license type and its expiration date.
- Click the Finish button.
